Patient Support Program Improves MS Adherence
For patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), consistent medical treatment may slow the onset of the disease’s devastating symptoms, provide supportive intervention to address the unpredictable rhythm of the disease, and keep them on their prescribed therapy. But as with individuals impacted by any lifelong disease, patients with MS can lose motivation to continue taking their treatment over the long term.
In partnership with a pharmaceutical manufacturer of MS drug therapies, IQVIA developed a customized Patient Support Program designed to address the barriers to therapy adherence from a holistic perspective. The program sought to educate the patient and understand the true reasons why they are (or are not) taking their MS medication. Consistent support from clinical nurse educators helped improve these patients’ motivation to continue their treatment. When they were finally able to understand their treatment, the company saw a 99% patient acceptance rate and 96% adherence to treatment.
